Megan & Kelvin: California Academy of Sciences Wedding

March 19th, 2012

As we take a peek into Megan and Kelvin’s incredible California Academy of Sciences wedding, you might remember this beautiful couple from their fun Tinywater engagement session we did with them at Baker Beach. With animal obsessed Kelvin and nature loving Megan, the California Academy of Sciences was a natural choice for these bay area natives!

The architecture of this building is stunning inside and out. Did you know that the California Academy of Sciences is one of the biggest natural history museums in the world? The best part is, it’s located practically in our backyard – a very pretty yard, actually. Nestled within Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, this venue is made up of the Steinhart Aquarium, complete with a four story faux rainforest, the Morrison Planetarium, dedicated to “all things astronomical”, and the Kimball Natural History Museum.

We love making the short trek from our Sacramento studio into San Francisco to shoot one of a kind weddings like Megan and Kelvins. With the ever so talented Jess Flood coordinating the event, we knew it would be one wedding we didn’t want to miss!

The California Academy of Sciences was full of fun animal themed details and we had a blast exploring the museum as Megan and Kelvin’s San Francisco wedding photographer!

With a color theme of turquoise blue and bright pink, these bright Manolo Blahnik shoes were a great accent to Megan’s ivory gown. It reflected the museum aquarium perfectly!

A few more moments of getting ready and final revisions of the vows with Megan before we whisked her around the museum for a bridal portraits before the ceremony began.

We can’t get enough of the contrast between Megan’s soft flowing gown and the industrial metal architecture on this walkway inside the California Academy of Sciences.

The bride and groom set up a little scavenger hunt for their guests to get the most out of exploring the 400,000 square feet of museum that the California Academy of Sciences has to offer. It’s a great way to keep your guests occupied before and in between wedding day events!

The ceremony space was accented with fresh pink and green floral pom poms lining the aisle, and a living garden wall framing the altar at the front of the room.

The kids in tow had some fun exploring while the guests arrived. There is so much to do and discover here, your curiosity won’t be satisfied with just one visit!

We had a few laughs with Kelvin as we waited for the ceremony to begin.

Megan and Kelvin were so cute smiling from ear to ear as they first spotted each other at their California Academy of Sciences wedding ceremony!

We are so excited to show you more from Megan and Kelvin’s gorgeous wedding at the California Academy of Sciences!

Amy & Ken – Sneak Peek!

March 15th, 2012

Still swooning over Amy & Ken’s recent engagement shoot. These two are so cute, we couldn’t help but share a little peek!

We rounded up Lauren and Erik for a few couple portraits at their Kunde Winery wedding before we headed to their outdoor reception. We couldn’t wait to see what Lauren had planned for their casual, yet elegant wedding celebration!

Crisp white paper lanterns hung from the overhanging branches to help create height in this tree made ‘venue’ and were a great complement to the bright white chairs. The lush floral arrangements were set it various style glasses, creating a sophisticated eclectic feel at this Kunde Winery outdoor wedding reception.

We were loving these muted green tones of the succulents that were incorporated into each floral arrangement. It was a great pairing for the beautiful color palette that exists in the wine country valley we were nestled within for Lauren and Erik’s Kunde Winery celebration.

Live music helped the guests get in the mood for partying. Soon we would celebrate the happy couple as Lauren and Erik made their way towards the dance floor!

More lush pinks and fuchsias accented each table, completely with a variety of green leaves to make those pinks pop.

The amount of support Lauren and Erik had from their family and friends in attendance was overwhelming and heartwarming. The guests look on lovingly as the newlyweds sway on the dance floor.

The sun begins to set and the moon rises over the hilltops.

The dancing begins with Lauren leading the way into the night!

The twinkle lights created a beautiful ambiance and perfectly lit up this Kunde Winery wedding reception.

Guests were asked to take a photo and leave a note using Lauren and Erik’s instant polaroid camera in lieu of a traditional guestbook. An antique mailbox was set out for guests to put their cards of well wishes in for safekeeping while the bride and groom enjoy the rest of their Kunde Winery wedding night.

This wedding was all but traditional. We loved the masquerade masks floating around the reception, and the option of the couple’s favorite pies rather than a traditional cake.

The bonfire was roaring and we witnessed the groom himself toasting up something special!

Rather than a cake cutting, Lauren and Erik shared a s’more together! So fun!

We can’t thank these beautiful two enough for inviting us into their lives as their wedding photographer, and wish them all of the love and happiness in the world for their lives together. ♥

Lauren + Erik: Sonoma Wedding Portraits

March 13th, 2012

We were so thrilled to be Lauren and Erik’s Sonoma wedding photographer at the Kunde Winery Family Estate. The Kunde Winery is located in the heart of the Sonoma Valley in Kenwood, California. With super green vineyards and gorgeous rolling hills, Lauren described her first thoughts of the place as “magical” and they couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else. Read on to check out the rest of their wedding ceremony and the wedding day portraits we captured for them as their Sonoma wedding photographer!

You may kiss the bride! We love how excited and emotional these two were to finally be officially man and wife. Capturing beautiful moments like these in the heart of wine country is one of our favorite parts of being a Sonoma wedding photographer.

Lauren and Erik’s gorgeous bridal party pose for Tinywater after the ceremony. The groomsmen sported bright pink ties while the bridesmaids donned the same bright fuchsia dresses, accented with lush bouquets of a range of shades of pinks!

Even their flower girl had a touch of pink with her floral hair clip.

After the family and bridal party group photos, Lauren and Erik ventured out with us into the Kunde Winery vineyards for some beautiful wedding day portraits. As a Sonoma wedding photographer, we can’t get enough of these gorgeous vineyards!

These two are so sweet to each other. We absolutely loved working with them and were so happy that they asked Tinywater to be their Sonoma wedding photographer for their big day!

Lauren is stunning, and we made sure to capture her beauty in the perfect Northern California natural light!

These huge trees scattered around Kunde Winery created fun silhouettes and shadows to play with as we kept exploring the grounds with Lauren and Erik for their unique bride and groom wedding day portraits.

As the sun set, the light grew warmer, and we knew it was almost time to head on over to the reception!

We love the way these trees created a natural vignette effect around this beautiful couple. We can’t wait to show off Lauren and Erik’s fun campfire filled reception!
