Jocelyn + George

She took my breath away when we first stepped in the bridal preparation room at the Rose Garden Inn. She was so elegant and so beautiful. The mood was calm, comfortable silences interrupted by feminine giggles. As she cut a part of her mother’s veil to add on to the hairpiece, I noted how important family was to her. Her red knee high boots sat in the corner as she got laced into her corset, accentuating her hourglass figure. Every move was deliberate and graceful, she was so inspiring. Everything about her was so unique, her red Wai Ching dress was perfect.

Downstairs, he was writing, rewriting and rehearsing his speech along with his best man who by now had a speech two pages long. “English major,” he says with a chuckle. We asked him if he was nervous right before she descended the stairs to see him for the first time that day. He shook his head and made a joke. He grinned when he first saw her and she walked right into his arms.

When you get to work with that rare perfect couple on their wedding day, it just seems like you are photographing an old friend’s wedding day. It felt like that for us with Jocelyn and George. George is hilarious, as I am sure all his friends know. He kept making me laugh during their pre-ceremony portrait session(yay) that I had to tell him to stop so we could work. It didn’t actually feel like work, everything was easy and anything we suggested, they did and then more. When they started dancing with their two attendants, we started to crack up again. They rode off to the ceremony in Piedmont Community Hall in a bright cherry red VW vanagon.

Their ceremony took place in the grove. As avid birdwatchers, it was only natural to have their ceremony whilst the birds chirped under the trees. “George was so protective of Jocelyn when we first met her,” his dad read out and I was struck by the truth of that statement. Even during their engagement session, we could see his love for her shining in his eyes. Their ceremony was sweet and meaningful as their family and friends celebrated their love. Even the dragonflies joined in. Their reception was marked with beautiful toasts and speeches from their family. And the dessert buffet was to die for!

Jocelyn and George, we feel like we have known you two forever. You guys had a beautiful bird themed wedding, every detail planned out like a visual feast for us. Jocelyn, you’re my kind of girl, we both like corsets, Fluevogs and Wai Ching, we even have the same birthday. You are gentle and kind. George, you have an unbelievable camera persona. We thank our lucky stars for having clients like you both. You are truly part of the Tinywater Family.
